True. Though I think “mediocre” is a mediocre adjective here. Mediocre means “ordinary” or “so so” which is basically the middle of the bell curve. Seems like people who practice what the writer complains of are at the lower end of that curve. I’d probably describe the people who engage in this behavior as “self-righteous.”
