I can absolutely relate to this. Does this still happen in anyone under 40?

I loved walking to bookstores and picking up a book. I’d read first sentences of books, to see if they pulled me in. I never took anyone’s advice on what to read. I auditioned the books myself. It was like treasure hunting. When I found one that I liked, I sat in the aisle and read. If it continued to compel me, I brought it home. If I found a stool to sit on, even better. Time stopped. Books anchored me.
